Morristown Memorial March
Over 22 million Americans struggle with addiction every day. At least 9 out of 10 of them began experimenting with substances before their 18th birthday, while their brains were still developing. For most, the cycle of substance abuse is never broken. We live in a society that is scared to talk about this problem, and we are not protecting our children when they are the most vulnerable to becoming addicted and unable to protect themselves.
The Morristown Memorial March was to remember those that have died from addiction and help those that are struggling through it today. One out of four homes in Hamblen County, TN are struggling with substance abuse with most having no idea of where to go for help or how to obtain affordable treatment. The march allowed us to get our information into the hands of the public raising awareness of this disease that is sweeping not only through our cities, but our country as well.
For more information on becoming involved in this year’s Morristown Memorial March, contact the Hamblen County Substance Abuse Coalition, Inc. at (423) 748-7494 or by coming by the office at 814 West Main Street, Morristown, TN 37814.
2020 Rat Rod Roundup, Fundraiser
Car collectors and enthusiasts from several states come together for the "Rat Rod Round Up", a car show designated for Rat Rods only.
Vintage cars, trucks, motorcycles and sometimes even an unrecognizable vehicle or two are gathered in a show that supports the efforts of the Hamblen County Substance Abuse Coalition, Inc. If you love old vehicles like I do, you don't want to miss this car show that features old vehicles AND rust.

This event took place on Saturday, 7 Nov 2020 at 12 PM. Our partners were Hillcrest Baptist Church, Innovative Care Solutions and P.R.E.S.S. Inc. It was a successful first event with 43 walkers and 3 furry, four-legged walkers for the event. We had ten coalition volunteers on hand and they did a great job! Marissa Valentine, our ROPES coordinator was there doing NARCAN training and distributed 24 units of Narcan to the public to help reduce overdose deaths in Hamblen County. Great job Marissa!
Second Chance Golf Classic, Fundraiser
The Hamblen County Substance Abuse Coalition hosts the "Second Chance Golf Classic" every June to raise funds for the work of the coalition. This event has been very successful and is thought of as one of the best golf tournaments in the area by those that faithfully play in the Classic.
The four-man scramble event is held at Clinchview Golf Club in Bean Station, TN. Due to the Covid situation, the Classic was cancelled for 2021 but we are excited to get the "golf balls rolling" again in 2021! Come on out and support the HCSAC and maybe your team will take away the $500.00 first prize for the Second Chance Golf Classic 2021!
For more information contact Paul Hyde at (423) 748-7494.
